In response to the devastating impact of hurricanes Irma and Maria, the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands (CFVI) has established two funds to collect and distribute monetary donations for the purposes of supporting immediate relief efforts and directing long-term community renewal.
CFVI FRIENDS AND FAMILY FUND FOR USVI RENEWAL The CFVI FRIENDS AND FAMILY FUND FOR USVI RENEWAL (FNF) was established to accommodate donations from CFVI's family, friends, existing Fund donors, Angels and other partners. This fund will be directed by CFVI's Board of Directors and will focus on immediate grass-roots needs in the community and support for long-term solutions in some of the Foundation's main areas of focus. (i.e., early childhood, youth development, volunteerism, the elderly, emergency needs of families, etc.).
USVIrecovery.org has been launched as the official USVI recovery webpage. Strategic planning for the FFVI will be coordinated with input from local government, national experts, and trusted local nonprofits. CFVI is spearheading a collaborative approach in the current efforts to rebuild our islands. By emphasizing both immediate and long-term goals, CFVI demonstrates its commitment to a comprehensive approach to post-hurricane efforts to enhance the well-being of current and future generations.
CFVI has a significant history of leading or participating in such efforts, including serving as the USVI grantee for the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s KIDS COUNT initiative and the state lead for the VI for the national Campaign for Grade Level Reading; functioning as the fiscal sponsor for several projects providing administrative support to government agencies/departments (e.g., the Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge); and serving in a board and/or advisory capacity to the Territory’s home visiting programs, the Human Services Research Partnership, the Regional Educational Laboratory for Northeast and the Islands (REL-NEI), and others.
The Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands (CFVI) has been serving the USVI for more than 25 years and is a 501(c)3 organization in good standing with the IRS. 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the cause, as no fees are being charged by the Foundation.
Donations can be made via PayPal, including a credit card option.
Checks should be made payable to CFVI, with memo to include FFVI or FNF, and mailed to:
