As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a longstanding history of serving the Virgin Islands community, CFVI was identified as a trusted vehicle for receiving and distributing funds to support renewal across the territory. In order to maximize effectiveness in this role, CFVI engaged collaboratively to receive input from community members, fellow nonprofits, national and local experts, donors, government representatives, and others in order to ensure a comprehensive and strategic approach to applying the funds in a manner that enhanced the wellbeing of the territory.
Since Hurricane Irma and Maria impacted the USVI in September 2017, over $14 million has been raised or pledged for hurricane efforts and more than $12 million has already been transferred back to the community for children/families, housing, health, and direct humanitarian relief.
