CFVI awarded a grant to the Imala Academy to offer intensive training and competitive exposure for female football/soccer players. The program held Spring and Summer training sessions spanning from 1 to 4 weeks, where girls received specialized training that gave participants a deeper understanding of the commitment and skill required to compete at higher levels, along with a summer tournament that served over 80 girls. The program shifted the view of soccer from a recreational activity to a serious athletic pursuit, which both parents and players noted as a transformative experience. To make the program accessible, more than 30 scholarships were awarded to participants to help ease the financial burden of attending the sessions. The Imala Academy aims to educate their community and supporters as they continue to develop the next generation of female footballers and provide life changing opportunities for young athletes in the territory.
