(U.S. Virgin Islands)— The Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands (CFVI) has received a $200,000 donation from Kym Rapier and the Rapier Family Foundation to support the Humane Society of St. Thomas (HSSTT). During Saturday’s 2019 Annual Awards Banquet for the St. Thomas/ St. John Chamber of Commerce the gift was announced by Rhea Vasconcellos, Programs Director at HSST, who was being honored by the Chamber. In presenting the donation to CFVI, Rapier is continuing her commitment to supporting philanthropic initiatives that benefit our Territory. The Rapier Family Foundation donations will benefit two programs at the Humane Society of St. Thomas. $100,000 will support Pets With Wings, which works to transport animals from the HSSTT to rescue groups and shelters on the U.S. mainland that face a shortage of adoptable pets. The second donation of $100,000 will support the Rapier Foundation’s ongoing Spay/Neuter Program, which works to reduce the number of unwanted and uncared for dogs and cats. Through her support, Ms. Rapier is working with local veterinarians toward the goal of having every dog and cat on St. Thomas spayed, neutered and protected. “The Humane Society is extremely appreciative of Kym Rapier and the Rapier Family Foundation’s financial support. We look forward to continuing to work with Kym and her Foundation to achieve the goals she envisions,” said Vasconcellos. CFVI President Dee Brown added, “At CFVI, we are so grateful to Kym Rapier and her amazingly generous support! And we are also very thankful to the Humane Society for the work they do to add to the kinder, gentler community that we are building together in the wake of the storms in 2017. We are so thankful to our partner community organizations, businesses, and individuals such as Ms. Rapier, who trust CFVI to guide and protect their investments in making the Virgin Islands a better place for all who love the Territory.”. Annual CFVI Angel donations pay for the support services that CFVI provides to its donors, partners, projects, and programs, thereby maximizing funds available for grant making and distribution back to the community. 100% of all donations directly support the selected Fund. CFVI ANGEL donors such as Kym Rapier make this possible!
